# Delete a widget

Requires `assistants:delete`.

Deleting a widget needs `assistants:delete`, the same scope as deleting an assistant. It cannot be undone: the widget, its visitors' conversations and its link are gone, and every page that embeds it stops showing it. What it cost stays in the [usage](/docs/api/usage/get-usage) figures.

To stop a widget without losing it, [update it](/docs/api/widgets/update-widget) with `status: "paused"`.
