Access and limits

Where a widget works, which assistant and answer mode it uses, and the visitor and monthly limits that keep its spending under control.

Open the widget’s Config tab.

Answers

  • Assistant: the assistant that answers. Changing it takes effect at the next question.
  • Answer mode: Flash (30 credits per answer), Eco (10, may start more slowly) or Deep (80, splits the question and answers with a stronger model). One price per answer, found or not, as everywhere in Lookio.

Where it works

Allowed domains decide where the bubble and the in-page chat can show. Type a host such as docs.acme.com. acme.com also covers www.acme.com, and *.acme.com covers every subdomain. Paste several at once if you like.

The rule is enforced by the browser: the chat frame tells browsers which sites may display it, and they refuse every other site. Nobody can copy your snippet onto their own site and spend your credits from there.

The hosted page has no domain rule: anyone with the link can open it. Which formats exist (chat bubble, in the page, hosted page) is set in the Install tab, where each has a switch. A format that is off answers “not found”. See Install a widget.

Visitors

The Config tab also holds what visitors can do: Remember the conversation, Visitors’ chat history and Thumbs up and down. See Customize a widget and Visitors’ conversations.

Limits

Every answer is charged to your workspace. The limits keep one visitor, or a bot, from spending it all:

LimitDefaultWhen it is reached
Questions per visitor, per hour20The visitor is asked to try again later, with how long to wait.
Questions per visitor, per day60Same.
Monthly credit ceiling3,000 credits (100 Flash answers)The widget stops answering until the 1st of next month (UTC). Raise it, or turn it off, in Config.

Select Save preferences to apply visitor settings and limits together. Turning the monthly ceiling off preserves its amount and usage counter; re-enabling it counts everything already spent this calendar month. In the API, set limits.monthly_credits_enabled to false or true to preserve the amount. limits.monthly_credits: null also disables the ceiling.

Lookio also limits each network address to a few questions per minute, whatever your settings. When the workspace runs out of credits, the widget stops answering too.

A visitor never learns which limit stopped them, nor anything about your credits: they read that the assistant cannot answer right now, or that they should slow down.

Who can change a widget

Members who can see an assistant see its widgets. Changing a widget needs the right to edit assistants, and deleting one the right to delete assistants. An assistant that answers on a widget cannot be deleted until the widget is moved to another assistant or deleted.

Use these docs with your AI tools

An AI agent can read this documentation directly. You do not need an account or an API key. Everything here is public and read-only.

Query these docs via MCP

Recommended

Add this server to Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Mistral, or any tool that supports MCP. Your agent can then search Lookio Docs documentation and read it in full, instead of answering from memory.

https://lookio.app/docs/mcp
  • searchFind the passages that answer a question.
  • fetchRead one page in full, as Markdown.
  • list_pagesSee every page in this documentation.

Query these docs over HTTP

The same tools also work as plain web requests. Use this for scripts, or for any tool that does not support MCP. There is one endpoint per tool. Arguments go in the query string, and the answer comes back as JSON.

Read the OpenAPI description. It is built from the same definitions as the tools, so it always matches what the endpoints do.

Read these docs as Markdown

Add .md to any page URL to get its Markdown source. You can also send the headerAccept: text/markdown to the page URL itself.

To read the whole documentation in one file, open llms-full.txt. For a short index of every page, open llms.txt.
